Hey everyone, it's Martijn from the Snap Finger Click team!
We're one step closer, previously we only had our pre-production versions of Awkward but here is our very first photo of the final release version, AKA our 'v2 production box':
As you might see on the right side of the box the Awkward logo is slightly reflective, the same applies to the image of Wick on the front of the box. This is thanks to the 'UV spot' process that we've used, which gives the box a nice premium feel. I've made this GIF of one of our pre-production boxes to show you better what the effect looks like:
I thought I should use this opportunity to also highlight two other upgrades we made to the game with this final v2 version of the Awkward game:
- We've decided to upgrade the quality of the A/B Voting Cards in order to better deal with frequent use. These are the cards that are used the most during gameplay so we felt it was worth the investment on our end to make sure they can deal with so much frequent use without it having an impact on their look & feel.
- We weren't very happy with the size of the instruction manual in the v1 / pre-production version of the game, it used to sit folded on top of the cards which is not ideal since it will lead to damage to the paper. So in the v2 / production version of the game we've redesigned the instruction manual from the ground up in order to make sure it can sit flush on top of the cards:
Last but not least we also wanted to show you the v2 version of the Blank Cards Expansion Pack. I've mentioned this before, but the cards in this expansion pack contain a special coating letting you write directly on the cards and you can also easily remove the written text again. We're including a pen inside the box for this, and the pen comes with a convenient built-in eraser as well. You can see a quick unboxing and the pen in action here:
Currently our manufacturing partner is busy packing up the game into boxes, that will then go onto pallets, and will then go through final preparation for being shipped to our UK fulfilment centre. I think we're currently about a week behind on the schedule that I mentioned in my previous update, so not ideal but also not too bad (hopefully). Thanks again for your patience on this, getting a board / card game ready is a huge and complex operation and it's a pretty major learning exercise but we're getting super close now to getting the game into your hands. Almost there! 🤞
